Finding Rest
Often when I open myself up to my dreams and aspirations, I feel a gravity towards squeezing in as much productivity as I can. It is exciting to hope and to dream, but I still find that I need moments to pause as I move onward towards my goals.
In music, I would say that Silence is equivalent to rest. The mind is not taking any new inputs. It is not outputting anything, organizing, deleting, or analyzing. It is just void of sound.
To me, the Silence now makes the moments when I make music more potent. I feel music more when I listen, and I hear more ideas in my mind.
Now I think about, how can we have “Silence” in our daily lives? Meaning rest. How can we find time to where we do not do anything, so that when we do have to do something, our senses, mind, and spirits are prepared for the coming tasks?
I hope wherever you are in your life, you can find small moments of peace that can help you carry your burdens. Please have hope.
